CIVITAS advocates for historic landmarks preservation and restoration.
Frick Collection
After careful consideration, CIVITAS supports the Frick’s intent to expand; however, we do not support the current design proposal. We strongly recommend the Frick revisits the proposed design and presents alternative expansion plans to the community including plans that would incorporate and/or preserve the garden.
CIVITAS is a long time and vocal supporter of the Second Avenue subway’s completion. Since construction began in 2007, issues have arisen with the MTA’s planning process and the construction’s impact on the community.
The Park Avenue Christian Parish House, located at 1010 Park Avenue, was deemed a “no style” building by the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC), a determination that allows a building within a historic district to be demolished with a staff-level permit. The Extell Corporation has proposed demolishing the Parish House to build a condo tower.
