Treasurer

Edward G. McAnaney

Edward G. McAnaney, a longtime and generous supporter of CIVITAS, has now joined its board of directors. Jumping in with both feet he has agreed to serve as Treasurer, a role that Ted Withington filled for many years. Ed, a graduate of Notre Dame and Harvard Law School, is an experienced attorney, specializing in real estate, tax and probate law. His roots in New York civic life go deep. Indeed, one of his ancestors, George McAneney, served as Manhattan Borough President from 1910 to 1913.

The McAnaney family is no stranger to CIVITAS. Ed’s wife, Jeanne, has been an active board member from the earliest days of the organization, having served at different times on the Executive Committee, as Co-Chair of the Annual Benefit and as Chair of the Nominating Committee. Their four children have often helped out at the Annual Benefit.  In taking on his dual role as Director and Treasurer, Ed imposed but one condition: Never schedule a meeting for a fall Saturday afternoon when the Fighting Irish take the field.
